The Down Swing

Front View Checkpoints
Club Head: Leading edge of club face rotated approximately 45 degrees from the setup (between square to plane and on plane).
Shaft: Approximately parallel to ground. An angle will begin to form between shaft and leading arm.
Wrists / Hands: Hands approximately waist high. Leading hand partially cocked. Trailing wrist partially cocked and hinged.
Arms: Leading arm extended 45 degrees to ground. Trailing arm folded approximately 90 degrees.
Shoulders: Leading shoulder partially rotated in front of torso in response to leading arm motion. Leading shoulder slightly higher than trailing shoulder.
Head / Torso: Head square to torso with torso slightly rotated clockwise in response to leading shoulder rotation. Spine tilt to leading side maintained.
Hips: Rotated slightly clockwise in response to torso rotation. Leading hip slightly higher than trailing hip.
Legs / Knees: Trailing leg maintains the setup position. Leading knee slightly flexed toward trailing knee in response to slight hip rotation.
Feet: Square to target line and wider than trunk as in the setup stance. Weight distribution favors trailing side.

Side View Checkpoints
Club Head: On plane. Leading edge of club face rotated approximately 45 degrees.
Shaft: On plane. Approximately parallel to ground.
Wrists / Hands: Leading wrist partially cocked. Trailing wrist partially cocked and hinged. Hands are on plane.
Arms: Leading arm comfortably extended on plane. Trailing arm bent at elbow approximately 90 degrees.
Shoulders: Leading shoulder partially rotated clockwise in response to leading arm motion. Leading shoulder closer to target line than trailing. Leading shoulder higher than trailing shoulder.
Head / Torso: Head in line with spine, swiveled slightly clockwise in response to shoulder rotation. Torso rotated clockwise in response to leading shoulder rotation. Leading side closer to target line than trailing. Posture is maintained.
Hips: Rotated clockwise in response to torso rotation. Leading hip closer to target line than trailing.
Legs / Knees: Leading knee is closer to target line than trailing in response to hip rotation. Trailing knee flexed. Both knees parallel to target line.
Feet: In balance, flat on ground with ankles parallel to target line.
