Trailing Arm
Place
the club in the palm of the trailing arm to allow the most consistent
squaring of the club face at impact. The trailing hand is rotated
clockwise approximately 45 degrees from vertical with the club grip
resting diagonally across the first knuckle of the index finger as
diagramed in the following series of sequential pictures. The second knuckle of the trailing index finger
must be positioned directly under the centerline of the shaft.
As outlined below, make
sure that the top of the shaft is in line with the center of the trailing
forearm when viewed from the target. This will place the club grip in line
with the lower half of the trailing forearm.

Goals Accomplished
Trailing Hand |
- Aligns wrist for a natural
centrifugal force return during swing.
- Positioning on club grip allows an
on plane straight release of the club after impact.

Leading Arm
The leading wrist is uncocked with the club grip positioned diagonally across
the first knuckle of the index finger palm of the leading hand and under
the heel pad. The second knuckle of the leading index finger must be
directly under the centerline of the shaft. The following series of sequential pictures shows this
positioning. The back of the
leading hand should be square to the target line facing the same direction
as the club face. Because the grip on the club is round, the completed
leading hand grip will have a slightly concave appearance as opposed to
completely flat or bowed.
The two hands are united with
all fingers and both thumbs on the club with the hands as close together
as possible. Generally the leading thumb is parallel to the leading
forearm and the trailing thumb is parallel to the trailing forearm.

Goals Accomplished
Leading Hand |
- Complements trailing hand in
natural squaring of club face.
- Uncocked position of wrist allows
for good angle of club shaft during backswing.
- Permits a complete release of
force after impact.
